Haircut time! :D

It feels like a slightly cooler version of summer, with the rains refusing to show up and everybody seems to be chopping off their locks for a fresh change.

For me, haircuts are NOT a regular affair. Until Std. 10, I used to cut my hair about once a year, but when I did get it cut, I wanted it to be absolutely perfect.

And for hair to be absolutely perfect, all we need is an awesome-as-hell hairdresser, and finding one is no easy task. So, I'm going to help you by listing some of my favourite hairdressing parlours in Mumbai.

Note : This is list is in no particular order of awesome-as-hell-ness. And the salons mentioned here are not light on the wallet.

1. Asif the salon (Bandra, Lokhandwala) - The first time I got a really good haircut was at Asif. A unisex salon, located in hill road, Bandra, Asif the salon offers not only good haircuts, but also hair spa and massage treatments. The junior hairstylists do an okay job, but the senior ones are pretty good. If you are dissatisfied with your cut, they will modify it for free, and tell them exactly what you want. The price is a little heavy on the pockets, but it's what you have to pay for decent hair these days.
P.S. - Ask for Rahat (Bandra) , she did my mum's hair perfectly.

2. Mad o wot (Bandra, Versova) - Run by the very eccentric celeb-hairstylist Sapna Bhavnani, this salon is perfect for your funky, punk-ass, wild side. If you want to embrace your hair in a low maintenance haircut, Mad o wot is the place to be. My after tenth boards makeover took place here. I got front bangs (they are so addictive!) and super curly fun hair =D! And all I had to do to maintain the curls was scrunch up my hair a bit! It looked really cool and my friends loved it! This place is also a little costly, but worth it.

3. Jean Claude Biguine  -  The name says it all, don't you think? I have never personally been to Jean Claude but many of my friends literally haunt the place, they just love it so much! The salon originates in Paris (need I say more?) and has a lot of outlets in Mumbai and one in Bangalore too. If you want to experiment with short hair and are fond of bobs, Jean Claude it is! They also offer services like spa, nails and makeup. It is the place in town to get the perfect French manicure/pedicure. Also a little costly.

4. Juice - Juice is located all over India (click on salon locator), with a couple of outlets in Mumbai. They have great hairdressers, if you want a high maintenance cut. They give awesome blow dries which last a couple of days if you don't wet your hair. Me and my friends had a haircut party at Juice once, and they got awesome makeovers! But, they lasted only till the set hair stayed, and changed immediately after a wash. So if you have straight hair, or can afford daily maintenance, its Juice all the way :).

And believe me, there is a reason these places are costlier, they experiment and don't mind trying different things with your hair, and hair is just so important isn't it? :D

Girl in the Pink Umbrella?? o_O

The monsoons in India are unreliable, erratic, uneven, and all those things we learnt in Geography, hence the need for a nice umbrella of sturdy built that won't fly away with the wind (I'm deadly serious BTW). As those of us living along the West Coast would know, the rain hits us first and hardest
Well, an umbrella is not really enough in this tempest we like to call 'The Indian monsoons' but when its pink, it sure looks pretty =D. However, this particular pink umbrella is prettier than most (well it is to me <3). It isn't a double fold, so it looks long and slender, with a hooked end, sort of like a walking stick, and the best part is, it can cover a blue whale when it is open, I LOVE it!
Wherever i go, whatever time of the day, this umbrella is one constant accessory that I cannot live without. I have been cursed and yelled at by my friends for carrying (and tripping over) the umbrella to every single event, formal dinner, casual outing or school =P. It has gone to such an extent that they cannot bear to see me without the umbrella anymore.
Hence the moniker, pseudonym, nickname, whatever you prefer to call it. I'm The Girl in the Pink Umbrella! (read in 'I'm BATMAN' style).
PS- True to the pseudonym, I intend to cover a vast number of topics under this one umbrella =).

Let the blogging begin!

The name is Harsha, 16 years of age, and awesome! I live in a suburb of Mumbai, the capital of Indian fashion and film.

My mother has been writing a food blog, Tongue Ticklers, for the past four years, so I guess I can say blogging is in my blood.  My inspiration for blogging comes from my mother, and the fact that I have so much to say and share! It also helps that English is my best subject :P.

This blog is going to be about street style, lifestyle, DIY projects, and all other things fun and girly. I hope you will enjoy reading this blog as much as I am going to enjoy writing it. Feedback is appreciated and can be given in the comment section. Thank you for visiting.
